The water bearers are the quirkiest of the signs with eccentric personalities. They often taking the path less travelled. Many make fast friendships with their easygoing personalities. They are the humanitarians of the Zodiac, standing up for the greater good of humankind. I wanted to capture the charm of the Water Bearer, as well as their distinctiveness by painting a curvaceous mermaid. Society does not often step outside the lines and portray voluptuous women. However, like a true Aquarian, my mermaid does not conform to societies expectations or standards. She is beautiful and proud of her full-figured fins.
I'm so happy about the casting for the new Disney Little Mermaid! Ladies of color definitely need to be represented!
